Dennis Miller

June 15, 1945 — December 28, 2021

After a long hard battle with Progressive Supra-Nuclear Palsy, Dennis H. Miller, 76, of Crawford, MS   passed away peacefully away at his residence on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 surrounded by his family. A funeral service is planned for  Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Magnolia Mennonite Church in Macon MS. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the church from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Contact Help Line, 308 Chubby Drive, Columbus, MS  39705 or Magnolia Mennonite Church, 2601 Magnolia Drive, Macon, MS  39341. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Dennis was born June 15, 1945, the middle child of Henry and Mary Miller in Hutchinson, KS. He moved to Macon, MS in 1965 for 1W Service as an orderly at Noxubee General Hospital and as a mission worker with the Choctaw Mission in Mashulaville. Dennis met and married Viola Schrock and together they ministered to the Oak Grove Church Community, ran a dairy farm and had seven children.

Dennis was an active member of Magnolia Mennonite Church. He was known for his song leading and for the delicious chili that he brought to church fellowship meals. For many years he served as a correspondent Bible study leader for Gospel Echoes, a mission which he turned over to Abram Calvillo in 2020. He also served for fifteen years with the Contact Help Line as a crisis hotline counsellor.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Mary Miller; his parents in law: Rudy and Nettie Schrock and his son: Delwyne Vaughn Miller.

Dennis is free at last and leaves to rejoice his beloved wife of fifty-three years: Viola Miller and six children: sons: Veldyn and Becki Miller, and David and LaVonne Miller and daughters: Denaye and Brent Wenger, Deanne and Gerald Knicely, Vylene and Matthew Yoder, Dayna and Jared Kilmer and Mary and Jose Lanauze. He also leaves behind twenty-five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and eleven siblings
