Clyde Oren Lindley

Clyde Oren Lindley, 89, of Columbus, MS formerly of Mt. View Arkansas, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at The Arrington in Columbus, MS. A funeral service is planned for Sunday June 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home, Macon, MS. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Cemetery Fund, c/o Ethan Ewing, 101 Elkin Ct., Macon, MS  39341.

Clyde Oren Lindley was born on October 8, 1932, to the late James F. and Willie Mae Perkins Lindley in Noxubee County, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Macon High School and then served his country in the United States Air Force. After his service to his country, he went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration and remained there for thirty three years. After his retirement in 1987, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and was always finding ways to improve the community in which he lived. Clyde and his wife were a big part of the Mountain View Bean Festival every year, preparing numerous cast iron pots for the annual bean cook-off. Most of all, he loved being around his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter: Vickie Ann Lindley; 1 sister: Thelma Hackworth and 4 brothers: Jimmy Lindley, Howard Lindley, Oscar Lindley and Will Lindley.

Clyde is survived by his wife: Sue Lindley of Columbus, MS; sons: Wesley (Barbara) Lindley and Darrell Holmes; daughters: Donna (Cecil) Pounders and Deborah Holmes; grandchildren: Charles Lindley, Josh Lindley, Alicia Harris, Jennifer McBride and Stephanie Herring; great grandchildren: Parker Harris, Avarie Harris, Macy Lindley, Tatum McBride, Madison McBride, Josie Harris, Harper McBride, Georgia McBride, Marlee Lindley, Lincoln Herring, Cambri McBride, Charlee Ann Harris, and Scarlet Herring.
