Interment will be in Moore Cemetery, 7131 Macon Lynn Creek Rd, Macon, MS. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Cindy was born January 14, 1958, to the late Ezra (Buster) and Wanda Cade Redus. She grew up in Noxubee County, MS, then later moved to Longview, MS. Cindy put herself through nursing school, where she became a proud alumnus of Mississippi University of Women with an associate degree in nursing. She found a love for psychiatric nursing when she managed Rolling Hills in Starkville, MS. She pursued a successful career in psych nursing working as a home health nurse for twenty-five plus years. Being a caregiver was her passion. She had a deep love for all her patients. She poured her heart and soul into her career. Only thing that she was proud of here on this earth was her family. She selflessly loved her family with everything that she had. She married the love of her life, Audie Hughes, on May 2, 1998. Together they built a life most would dream of. They traveled all over but her favorite thing to do was to take cruises. Although seeing so many places and accomplishing so much she would tell you her greatest achievement in life was being a wife, mother and eventually a grandmother. She loved all her grandkids with everything she had. If “her babies” were okay, she was okay no matter the circumstance. In her Bible was written several times “the Joy Club” Christ first, others second and yourself last. She lived by this until her last breath. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Georgia Maire McKenna and Janice Thompson, and beloved grandmother, Georgia Lee Cade.
Cindy is survived by husband, Audie Hughes; children, Alicia (Michael) Box of Mathiston, MS and Sandy (Keith) Vickers of Sturgis, MS; four grandchildren, Taylor (Austin) Halford, Brandon Vickers, Heidi Box and Charles Box. Two great grandchildren: Ryker Vickers and James Patrick Halford; brothers, Brandon (Amy) Redus and Perry James (Brooke) Redus; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
