Christine Morrow

March 23, 1930 — April 9, 2020

Mrs. Christine Morrow passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Windsor Place, Columbus, MS. A private family graveside was held Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Brooksville Cemetery with Bro. Bill Ross officiating. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 3232 Military Rd, Columbus, MS  39705. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Christine Fathergill Morrow was born on March 23, 1930 to the late Robert and Lilly Prather Fathergill in Garrard County, KY. She attended school there.  She met and married Johnie H. Morrow in 1950 and they moved to Mississippi in 1960. She worked at the garment plant for several years and then went to work for Hardin’s Bakery until they closed their business. She was a member of Deerbook Baptist Church and later became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Macon, MS. She loved her church and church family. She was an avid bird watcher, flower gardener and enjoyed porch sitting. Most of all she enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them whenever she could. She and her husband shared a love of fishing as well.  She liked to take trips and so Mrs. Morrow accompanied her grandchildren on a lot of field trips. She was a member of the Ageless Wonders. Christine is preceded in death by her husband, two sons: Johnny Lee Morrow and Ricky Dale Morrow, and 8 siblings.

Christine is survived by her daughter: Deborah Kay Gilmore and her husband, Dennis of Columbus, MS; four grandchildren: Erica Braswell (Keith), Scott Gilmore (Kourtney), Dale Morrow (Kimberly), and  Brandon Morrow (Dynene); four great grandchildren: Austin and Larkynn Braswell, Zackary and Kinslee Morrow, Madilyn and Eva Rose Morrow.
