Charles Fred Wilson

Charles Fred Wilson, 81, Of Macon, MS passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS.  A funeral service is planned for Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Steve Galloway will officiate at the service.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the services.

Charles Fredrick Wilson was born in Greene County, Alabama to the late Henry Johnson and Mary Miller Wilson. He attended the county schools in Greene County and worked at Jr. Hines Grocery Store and later at the Coca-Cola plant in Aliceville. During this time, he served with the Alabama National Guard during the riots at Selma, AL. He then began his career with Dowdle Gas, a distributor of propane gas. Charles (Fred) moved to Macon in 1968 and became the manager of the local Dowdle Gas office, a position he held until his retirement. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, but he most loved the time that he spent with his grandchildren. Charles (Fred) Wilson was preceded in death by his siblings: Ernest Wilson, William Wilson, Frank Wilson, Joe Wilson, Nell Wilson and Mary Louise Parham.

Charles (Fred) Wilson is survived by his wife, Marie, of Macon and by three daughters: LaDonna Junkin and Kody Thomas, both of Tuscaloosa and Katina Harkins of Aliceville, AL. and one son: Phillip Wilson of South Carolina. Also surviving Mr. Wilson are two sisters: Evelyn (Kenny) Thomas and Dorothy (John) Tarlton and two brothers: Willie (Pat) Wilson and Jerry (Holly) Wilson. Six grandchildren, Benjamin, William, and Alexander Thomas, Azaria, Courtney, and  Quiana Harkins; two great-grandchildren Kayden and Tevin Harkins.
