Mr. Charles H. Pannell, 90, of Macon, MS passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday, May 1, 2024. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel, Macon, MS. Interment will follow in Brooksville Cemetery, Brooksville, MS. Visitation will be held at the funeral Home one hour prior to the service. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Charles Hayes Pannell was born June 5, 1933. Charles was employed with Taylor Machine Works for over thirty years. Charles’ favorite past time was fishing. Before retirement, he and Becky would often be seen fishing on the banks of Land o Lakes. After retirement while Becky was still slaving away, he would sneak off for a little fishing therapy by himself or with his friends, Frank Jenkins, and Lamar and Earl Reed, and family. He also had a love of dogs. Until his later years he would always be seen with a four-legged friend that he would train to do tricks.

Charles attended Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church until the decline in the health of his wife, Becky then himself. If you knew him, you knew there was no doubt of his love and faithfulness  for the Lord. He is home now to see his heavenly Father face to face and to hear Him say “Well done thy good and faithful servant”

He will be welcomed home by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca (Becky) Jane Norman. Since she has been waiting on him to get home for 2 years, she will have quite a “Honey Do” list for him. Also glad to see him will be his father, Charlie Leon Bedford Pannell who has been surrounded by nothing but the women in the family: Mother-Betsy Clytee Pannell, Sisters-Billie Eloise Pannell and Bobbie Nell Pendergrass. They are all waiting on their brother Ronald Wayne Pannell. While they weren’t blessed to have any children themselves, they were blessed to have 7 nieces and nephews along with quite a few great and great great nieces and nephews. His duty as an uncle was to always show them how a horse eats an apple.
