Charles Lee Green

July 31, 1941 — December 29, 2020

Charles Lee Green, 79, of Macon, MS passed away at his residence on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. A graveside service was held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Cooksville Cemetery with Bro. Steve Galloway presiding.  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 510, Macon, MS  39341 or the donor’s choice. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.

Charles Lee Green  was born to Thomas Elmer and Lucy Isabelle Fraley Green  on July 31, 1941 in Louisville, Mississippi and graduated from Macon High School. He played football at East Mississippi Junior College and attended Mississippi State University. He married the former Clara Watt on May 23, 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Army for three years as a small arms instructor. He worked in the commercial credit field for several years while living in Columbus. He was employed as a salesman with the Carter Equipment Company having worked in Jackson and in Laurel before moving to Macon MS.  He owned an auto body repair shop and later began working at Waters Truck and Tractor selling Bobcats. He later went into the logging equipment business.  He was a member of First Baptist Church where he and Clara taught Sunday School to small children for a short time. Charles was a Mason and a member of the Macon Lions Club for a number of years. He enjoyed reloading ammunition, fishing and hunting.  He loved his family, never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to people. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Thomas Elmer Green and sister, Charlene Green Taylor.

Charles is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Clara W. Green of Macon, MS; a daughter, Kimberly Moore of Macon, MS, a son, Lee Green of Ocean Springs, MS; a sister, Ibby Morris Of Oxford, MS; two grandsons, Dusty and Judd Ray; and a great grandson: Sam Ray.
