Mrs. Carrie M. Tewell, of Brooksville, MS passed away at her residence on June 25, 2019. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org. Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Carrie MarieCollins Tewell was born on February 3, 1937 to the late Alvin Raymond and Katherine Wiseman Collins in Zion, ILL. Carrie was known as a hard worker having raised her children on her own and she went on to help them raise their children. She was known by her grandchildren as “Gigi”. Carrie was in every facet of her children’s lives. She helped her son become an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Carrie had lived in Caledonia, MS for about ten to fifteen years and then she moved to Brooksville, MS where she lived for six years. She is preceded in death by her parents, and son Charles Tewell.
Carrie is survived by her daughters: JoAnn Lilly of Brooksville, MS, Karen Harmon of Antioch, ILL., and Joy Lynn Allen of Henderson, NV; three sisters: Bobbie Stephens of Caledonia, MS, Rosemary Parker of North Las Vegas, NV., and Kathleen Strain of Waukegan, ILL; one brother: Fred Collins; 10 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
