Mrs. Blanche L. Ewing, 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 11,2021 at Baptist Medical Center Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Her graveside service will take place on Sunday, August 15 at Brooksville Cemetery in Brooksville, MS at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Luke Lawson officiating. There will be no visitation. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
Blanche Long was born in Pickens County, Alabama on October 24,1934 to the late Winston and Nannie Lee Smith Long. She attended both Macon High School and Aliceville High School, from which she graduated, and later completed the Business course from Perry Business School. She married Randolph Ewing on November 28, 1953. Blanche worked as a secretary for Lee’s Feed Store for one year and then became a homemaker where she cared for her children until they were grown. She later worked as an ER Tech at Noxubee General Hospital for thirteen years until her retirement. Blanche was a member of the Brooksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed needlework, reading, and quilting.
Blanche is survived by her daughters: Karen E. Boxx (Ray) of Water Valley, MS and Suzanne Langford (Mike) of Columbus, MS and by her son: Randy Ewing (Judith) of Macon, MS. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as three sisters: Sue Sanders of Demopolis, AL; Nancy Garrard of Eutaw, Al; Nell Gibson (Elton) of Aliceville, Al and one brother: Winston Long, Jr (Karol) of St. Amanté LA. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son: Ronald Ewing; one sister: Anne Baker and two brothers: Harold Long and Perry Long.
