Bennie Savage, Jr., 75, of Columbus, MS passed away on March 29,2022 at Crowne Nursing Home of Springhill in Mobile, AL.  A funeral service is planned for Friday, April 1,2022 at 2 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS. Interment will be in Betheden Cemetery in Winston County, MS.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1 st St., Suite 800, Miami, FL  33131 or Betheden Cemetery, 40 Livingston Rd., Louisville, MS  39339. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.

Bennie Savage, Jr was born on September 2,1946 in Noxubee County, MS to the late Bennie Sr. and Pauline Sloan Savage. He was a graduate of Noxubee County School. He began working for Woolco in Columbus, MS and was the manager of the camera and sporting good departments until Woolco closed. Bennie then began working at United Technologies, also in Columbus, and remained with that company until it closed. He later opened his own business -Bennie Savage Enterprises- that specialized in jewelry repair. He enjoyed being his own boss.

Bennie loved to travel, along with his first wife, with his sister and her husband in their motorhome. Going to the mountains with them was his most favorite destination. Bennie enjoyed meeting people and was loved by so many people that he had met over the years. He also enjoyed spending time fishing with family and friends.

Bennie is survived by his sister, Brenda S. Kirby (Ed) of Daphne, Al and by three cousins: Melissa Sloan, Norma Wilcox, and Janice C Persons.
