Arlene Kay Yost Boeckner

March 8, 1953 — August 12, 2023

Arlene Kay Yost Boeckner was born on March 8, 1953, to Lester and Molly Yost at Moundridge KS. She slipped away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 12th, 2023, after a brave and courageous battle with ALS.

She was born the 3rd of 6 children and enjoyed a happy and fulfilled childhood. She was a lover of nature and animals, and we heard many times of her memories from those years. She exhibited an exuberance and childlike delight in so many ways which followed her through her entire life. She answered the call of God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on December 24, 1967. Her clear love and commitment to God was evidenced in her daily life. Her utmost desire was that her children and grandchildren would follow her in her faithfulness.

On Nov 28, 1971, she was joined in marriage to me, Bob Boeckner, at Hesston KS. We lived there until September of 1974 when we moved to Macon, MS. We were richly blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters. Together we lived the life God gave us for 51 years.

We children have many good memories of our growing up years that were made while she balanced the joys and adversities of life. We see her resilient and vibrant spirit in all aspects of her life, whether working, volunteering, or serving her family. She taught us how to have fun and work hard. At Busy B Nursery, she delighted in the opportunity to work alongside her family. She loved and cared warmly for all people and made them feel special.

Mom and Dad made many good memories working at Oakwood. Their many camping trips were another way Mom showed her love of nature and people. Another special time in her life was visiting her granddaughter Amanda in Mexico.

We will always treasure the legacy that she left of loving life and others.

She is survived by her loving husband Bob, four children, Mike and Joellene, Chino Valley, AZ, Randy and Theresa, Macon, MS, Debbie and Philip Johnson, Macon, MS, Sherry and Cameron Frase, Linden TN, 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, siblings: Dale and Cindy Yost Lakin KS, Arlo and Esther Yost,  Paxton NE, Carol and Leonard Koehn, Scotia NE, one sister in law, Joanne Yost Sutherland NE, One brother in law Don and Janis Boeckner,  Scotia NE.

She was preceded in death by parents, parents’ in-law, 1 brother and 1 sister.

A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at South Haven Mennonite Church, 5494 Prairie Point Rd, Macon, MS  39341. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  Memorials may be made to Oakwood Manor, 55 Oakwood Drive, Brooksville MS  39739 or Team Gleason, 2021 Lakeshore Drive, Suite 120, New Orleans, LA  70122.
