Annabelle Mitchener

Mrs.  Annabelle Boykin Mitchener, 100, of Crawford, MS passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS.  A funeral service is planned for Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Crawford United Methodist Church in Crawford, MS at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kathy Brackett officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to service at the church. The Interment service is private and for the family only.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Limb Cemetery, P.O. Box 167, Crawford, MS  39743.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Annabelle Boykin Mitchener was born on September 6, 1917 to the late Oscar N. and Mamie Smith Boykin in Noxubee County, MS. She was a graduate of Mashulaville Agricultural High School in Noxubee County, MS.  Mrs. Annabelle married John Ed Mitchener and in 1946 they moved to Crawford where they made their home until ill health forced her to move to assisted living.  She was a homemaker until her children were all in school. Later, she went to school to become a nurse and worked as a nurse for twenty-five years until her retirement.  She enjoyed gardening in her spare time. Mrs. Mitchener is preceded in death by her husband, John Ed Mitchener.

Mrs. Mitchener is survived by her five sons: John C. Mitchener of  Macon, MS; Jerry Mitchener of Columbus, MS; Bobby Mitchener of Brandon, MS; Lance Mitchener, Bolivia, NC and Colonel (Dr.) Tim Mitchener of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Ethel Coleman of Crawford, MS  and Martha Fleming of Columbus, MS; ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
