Mrs. Allene S. Putnam, 104, of Brooksville, MS passed away at her residence on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Macon Presbyterian Church in Macon, MS. Interment will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Phillip Palmertree and Rev. Steven Holman will be officiating the service. Memorials may be made to French Camp, 1 Fine Place Natchez Trace, French Camp, MS 39745-9703: Reformed Theological Seminary, 4268 I-55 North, Jackson, MS 39211, or Macon Presbyterian Church, 847 Washington St., Macon, MS 39341. Allene S. Putnam was born on February 22, 1920, in Grenada, Mississippi to the late George Jacob Srite and Dorris Allen Srite. Allene attended school in Yazoo City but graduated from high school in Madison, MS. After she graduated from business school in Jackson, MS, Allene married John Mahlone Putnam and they made their home in Jackson, MS. Mrs. Putnam was a homemaker who stayed at home until her children were grown, after which she became a clerk reader for the Mississippi State Legislature. Allene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Jackon where she was active in their mission work. After her husband passed away, she moved to Tupelo, MS where she became a member of and regularly active at Lawndale Presbyterian Church. In 2003, Allene moved to Brooksville, MS to be near her daughter and her family. She joined the Macon Presbyterian congregation after her move to Brooksville. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress who enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Allene was known for being a kind and caring woman who loved the Lord. Allene is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter: Sara Putnam; a son: Jim Putnam and her siblings: Evelyn Bruner, Addie Goldstein, and Ray Srite.

Mrs. Putnam leaves behind a daughter: Anne Riddell (Walter) of Brooksville, MS; two sons: Joe Putnam (Melissa) of Corinth, MS and John Allen Putnam (Martha) of Hoover, AL; eight grandchildren: Paul Rouse, Mark Putnam (Rosie), Matthew Putnam (Jamieson), Elizabeth Phipps (Steve), Sara Marsh (David), Will Riddell (Jessica), Sam Riddell (Blair) and Joel Riddell; twenty one great grandchildren: John Mark Putnam, Cedar Putnam, Jesse Putnam, Shepherd Putnam, Zoe Putnam, Jadyn Lindsey, John Thomas Putnam, Steveigh Jean Putnam, McClane Lindsey, Joshua Phipps, Callie Beth Phipps, Issac Phipps, Hanna Phipps, Amos Phipps, Georgia Claire Riddell, Ryder Riddell, Grace Anne Marsh, Ben Marsh, Ellen Marsh, Nora Marsh, and Lily Marsh.
