Dorothy Durham Druey

Mrs. Dorothy “Sister Dot” Druey, wife of Butler Pentecostal Church Pastor Rayburn Druey, passed away at their home near Shuqualak on Monday, December 13, 2010. She was 63 years of age. Her funeral services will be held Thursday, December 16 from Butler Pentecostal Church at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow the services at Newton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Newton, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to Butler Pentecostal Church Building Fund % Mrs. Clytee Lowery 6132 Butler Road Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the services.
“Sister Dot” was born in Philadelphia, MS on October 16, 1947.She was a graduate of Moss Point High School in Moss Point, MS. On May 29, 1964 she married Rayburn Druey and five years later, on their wedding anniversary, their son Bruce was born. She supported her husband in his ministerial efforts, which took them from Mississippi to Alabama and Missouri before returning to serve as shepherds of Butler Pentecostal Church near Shuqualak, Ms. Her service as first lady to the church there began on September 5, 1988 and continued until her death.
She was an artist in floral design and enjoyed arts and crafts until her sight failed her in 1998. She was a wonderful pianist and singer who faithfully played for the church and other gatherings, always bringing her joy in the Lord into her music.
She is survived by her husband : Bro. Rayburn Druey of Shuqualak and one son: Bruce (Jennifer) Druey, also of Shuqualak. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Anna Claire Druey, whom she loved more than life itself. Also remaining to grieve her passing is one sister: Janie Durham Tillman of Conehatta, MS and a Sister-in law and Brother-in-law: Diane and Martin Holmes of Moss Point Ms as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
