Mrs. Karen P. Hollis, 60, of Macon went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2010. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from First United Methodist Church in Macon. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. in Friendship Cemetery in Columbus at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 162, Macon, MS 39341.
Mrs. Hollis was born in Tuscaloosa Ala on July 2, 1950 to the late Kermit and Eva Hollingsworth Price. She graduated from Gordo High School. She was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women and she taught school for a number of years. She went back to "The W" and received her nursing degree as a registered nurse. She worked for the State of Mississippi for twenty five years until she retired. She attended First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Renewals Sunday School Class. Her greatest thrill was spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters. She was a devoted Christian and her husband was the apple of her eye.
Survivors include her husband Anderson Clay Hollis of Macon, MS; 3 daughters, Beverly (Don) Arnold of Vicksburg, MS, Karan (David) Ndinya of Memphis, TN and Sandra (Tom) Weeks of Warren, NJ; 2 sisters, Loretta Sykes of Montgomery, Ala and Linda (Dale) Baines of Gordo, Ala; 2 sisters-in-law Betty Dawkins of Columbus, Ms and Sarah Nordwall of Honolulu, HI and 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
