Mr. Vernon A. Carter, 69, of Brooksville, MS died Thursday June 24, 2010 at Biloxi Regional Medical Center in Biloxi, MS. His funeral service will be Monday, June 28, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Brooksville Baptist Church in Brooksville, MS with Bro Danny Avery officiating. . Interment will follow in Brooksville Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Cockrell Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Central Academy P.O. Box 231 Macon, MS 39341
Mr. Vernon was born in Macon MS and graduated from Lee High School in Columbus, MS. He married Maxine Robinson in 1961. He worked at Deerbrook Co. for 40 years and for the past ten years had worked for Future Tek as an electrician technician. Mr. Vernon was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a loyal supporter of Central Academy in Macon, MS and also enjoyed Ole Miss football. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities. He always thought of others before he thought of himself. He loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert D. and Annie Mae Basson Carter; a sister Betty Joyce Shields and brother John Carter.

Surviving Mr. Vernon are his wife: Mrs. Maxine Carter – Brooksville, MS,1 daughter: Patricia Carter – Brooksville, MS;1 son: Vince and Cherish Carter – Brooksville, MS; 3 sisters: Kim Brock – Columbus, MS, Bobbie Ferreria – Bilerica, Mass, Claudine Barnhill – Chesapeake, Va. and 2 grandchildren - Faith Carter and Mitchell Carter – Brooksville, MS
