Dorothy R Moore

February 28, 1934 — January 22, 2018

Mrs. Dorothy R. Moore, 83, of Macon, MS passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Studdard officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Moore Cemetery, c/0 Bobby Cade, 1399 Beersheba Rd, Columbus, MS 39702. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Dorothy Ray was born on February 28, 1934 in Meridian, MS to the late James Milton Ray and Margaret Jackson Ray Conner. At age 10, she moved to Brooksville, MS. She attended Brooksville High School and then married William J. Moore in 1952. Mrs. Moore worked in production at United Technologies from 1958 until her retirement in 1996. She was involved in many church activities as a member of McLeod Chapel Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Moore enjoyed working in her yard, growing vegetables and walking and she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: William J. Moore and her sister: Melba Bell.

Survivors include her daughter: Wanda Lee (Donnie) of Macon, MS; two sons: Jim Moore (Jenny) of Roswell, GA and Joey Moore (Heidi) of Tupelo, MS; a brother: Roland Ray (Janice) of Brandon; two sisters-in-law: Mary Lois Combs (Wallace) of West Point, MS and Margaret Rosser of Goshen, IN and by one niece: Mary Cockrell of Macon, MS. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren: Lacey Outlaw (Jonas), Chris Moore, Shelley Legg (Sean), Joseph Moore, Josh Lee (Beckie), Blake Moore, and Jeremy Moore and her six great-grandchildren: Aubree Legg, Mannix Moore, Zoey Legg, Juliet Outlaw, Daxton Moore and Charlie Lee.
