John Harold Wheeless

John Harold Wheeless, 62, of Shuqualak, MS passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Noxubee County Nursing Home. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 3:00 P.M. from Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel in Macon, MS with Bro. Salone Green and Bro. Gerald Butler officiating. A private interment will follow later in Shuqualak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Thursday.
Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with the service arrangements.

John Harold Wheeless was born in Macon, MS on July 29, 1955 to Betty Jane Thornell Wheeless and the late Harold Wheeless. He grew up in the Shuqualak area and attended Central Academy in Macon. He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years before returning to Shuqualak to help in his family’s grocery store. John Harold then graduated from East Mississippi Junior College and later the Mississippi University for Women with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. He enlisted with the U.S. Air Force and served for several years before returning to Shuqualak and working locally in hospitals as an RN. He remained in Shuqualak until his death. John Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, and listening to music.

John Harold Wheeless is survived by one son: John L. Wheeless of Meridian; his mother: Betty Jane Wheeless of Shuqualak; one sister: Jane Wheeless Green (Salone) of Tifton, GA. and by one grandson and one neice.
