Mr. Robert L. Taylor, 78, of Macon, MS passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Memorial Church near Macon with Bro. Barry Hathcock officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Any memorials are requested to be made to the Salem Cemetery Fund % Mrs. Charlene Jourdan, 23 Hunter Street, Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the service arrangements.
Robert Lindley Taylor was born on November 30, 1939 in Macon, MS to the late George Walton and Kittie Lindley Taylor. He grew up near Macon and graduated from Macon High School in the Class of 1958. Robert was a carpenter by trade and in 1961, he moved to Illinois with his family to pursue his craft. In 1994 he and his family moved back to Macon where he began driving a truck, hauling freight across the United States and also hauling logs locally. He continued to drive trucks until ill-health forced him to retire. Robert was a thirty-second degree Mason. He was an avid reader all of his life and particularly enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour and Bible history books. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and by his son: Robert L. Taylor, Jr.
Robert L. Taylor is survived by his wife: Dorothy Carr Taylor and by one daughter: Angelia as well as by four grandchildren: Graydon Walton Carruth, Lindley Francoeur (Paul), Laura Marie Condry (Jared) and Adam Taylor Carruth (Tori) and by three great-grandchildren: Conner, Quinn, and James Condry. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.
