Nancy Lynn Martin Bell, age 83, of Macon, MS, and Lebanon, TN, passed away on Tuesday December 5, 2017, at the Pavilion Senior Living Rehabilitation & Long Term Care Center in Lebanon, TN.
Nancy was born on October 2, 1934, in Macon, MS, to the late Leonard and Ethel Mae Martin. On December 17, 1960, she married William Dudley Bell, who passed away on May 6th 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margie Mae Martin and her daughter-in-law, Suzi Bell. Survivors include her sons William Dudley Bell, Jr. and Hugh Martin Bell; her daughter-in-law Weslea C. Bell; her granddaughters Heather Patterson Mason, Jaimee Patterson Lee, Amanda Bell Blount, Olivia Chapel Bell, and Victoria Addison Bell; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
After being an active member of First Baptist Church of Macon, MS, for most of her life, Nancy moved to Lebanon, TN, to be closer to family and regularly attended Immanuel Baptist Church.
Nancy was an elementary school teacher and principal and maintained a life-long love for children. She graduated from Macon High School, Millsaps College, and Athens State College, and pursued a career in education in Athens, AL, and in Macon, MS, where she also reared her children and joyfully supported her husband.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Monday December 11, 2017, at the Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS, with Rev. Tommy Jarrett officiating. Friends may attend visitation at Cockrell Funeral Home from 9:00-11:00 Monday morning with the service to follow at 11:00.
