Dera E. Lane

Mrs. Dera E. Lane, 95, of Macon, MS passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Bee Hive in Starkville, MS. A Graveside service will held at Oddfellows Cemetery immediately following a visitation at Cockrell Funeral Home Wednesday August 16, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with arrangements.
Dera Elizabeth Sigler Lane was born in Houston, MS on July 18, 1922to the late James Verbal and Jimmie Palmer Davis Sigler. She was a graduate of Houston High School and received a business degree from Tulane Business School in New Orleans, LA. She worked as a bookkeeper during her life at many places including Munition Plant in Prairie, MS, Moore and Woods Stockyard in Macon. She retired from bookkeeping at the Noxubee County Sherriff’s Department after many years of service. Dera was a member of First United Methodist Church and she enjoyed reading in her spare time.
Mrs. Lane is survived by her husband, Orie J. Lane, Jr. of Macon, three daughters, Deandra Barnett (James), Susan Boyd (Dick) of Millington, TN and Rhonda Lane of Villa Rica, GA; two grandsons, Dusty and Duke Barnett.
