John Jefferson (Jeff) Prince

Mr. John Jefferson Prince, 83, passed away at the Kemper County Care Center in Dekalb, MS on Thursday, June 22, 2017. A Memorial Service remembering and honoring Mr. Prince’s life will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 24. Bro. Gerald Butler will officiate at the service. The family requests that any memorials please be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS is entrusted with the service arrangements.

Mr. John Jefferson Prince, better known through-out the community as “Jeff”, was born in Shuqualak, MS on July 26, 1933 to the late John Randolph and Carolyn Boggess Prince. He lived in Shuqualak for his entire life and was known as a hard-working and honest man. He attended the Shuqualak School and was a long-time member of Shuqualak Baptist Church. He worked for the State Lime Plant at Macon for many years, and then later worked for Presley Construction Company and Shuqualak Lumber Company until his retirement. He loved his sons and grandsons and was a wonderful husband and a good provider for his family. He was always glad to see his friends and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jeff Prince is survived by his wife: Britty Thompson Prince of Shuqualak and by one son: Jesse Joe Prince (Kim), also of Shuqualak, MS. He is also survived by two sisters: Ray Davis of Collinsville, MS and Jane Prince of Meridian, MS and by one brother: John R. Prince, Jr. (Pat) of Oklahoma. Also left to mourn his passing is his very special sister-in-law: Joann T. Green of Grand Bay, Alabama and his two grandsons: Eric Prince (Danielle) of Vernon, Al and CPO Stephen Thompson Prince, USN, stationed in Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by two sons: John J. Prince and Ben Prince and by one grandson: Jeff Edwin Prince.
