Thomas Hubbard Presley, 88, of Shuqualak, MS passed away at Diversicare of Meridian on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. His funeral service will take place on Friday, March 31, at 11:00 A.M. from Butler Pentecostal Church near Shuqualak, MS. with Bro. Gerald Butler, Bro. Jared Glover, and Bro. Allen Eaves officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Butler Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Mar. 30, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon. Memorials are requested to be made to the Butler Cemetery Fund % Willis Jones 991 Johnny Higginbotham Rd. Shuqualak, MS 39361.

Thomas Hubbard Presley was born on October 23, 1928 in Gholson, MS to the late Lonnie T. and Bessie Eaves Presley. He grew up in the Gholson area and attended Shuqualak High School. He later served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. After his return from overseas, he married the former Joyce Vernon in 1953 and began what was to become a lifelong career in construction by clearing land in Mississippi and Alabama. After a few years, he started his own construction and trucking business and, with his family, continued to operate it for over fifty years. Mr. Presley enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and avidly pursuing his hobby of quail hunting. He was a loving parent and grand-parent who enjoyed watching and supporting his children, grands, and great-grands in all of their many endeavors. Mr. Presley was a generous person who donated his time, equipment, and materials to completing the dirt-work for what became Central Academy in Macon. He also did the same to help build the football and baseball fields at that school. Mr. Presley was a member of Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby D. Presley and infant son, Timothy Presley.

Mr. Presley is survived by his wife: Joyce V. Presley of Shuqualak; one daughter: Beverly PShelton of Macon; and two sons: Danny Ray Presley of Meridian, MS and Darryl Presley of Crawford, MS. He also leaves behind two sisters: Olga Vernon of Brooksville, MS and Jean Taylor of Shuqualak as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
