Mrs. Bobbie Ruth Aycock Senter, 92, of Macon, MS passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 surrounded by her family at Elderly Care Center of Macon. Mrs. Senter was a native of Derma, Ms. She was born on June 28, 1924 to the late Dr. W.J. and Marion Denley Aycock and graduated from Calhoun City High School. She then attended Mississippi State College for Women (now MUW), graduating in 1945 with a B.S. degree in Bacteriology. After graduation, she came to work for Dr. L.B. Morris at the Macon Hospital in Macon, MS, where she met and soon married her husband of over sixty years, Edward Bernard Senter. She then assisted her husband and her family in the operation of Senter’s Hardware Company in Macon for over fifty years, until declining health forced her to semi-retire. Even after she was unable to work all day, she still enjoyed coming to the store for a few hours to visit with her family, friends, and customers from all over the area. Mrs. Senter was an active member of First Baptist Church where she served in many leadership and teaching roles through the years and was also a long-time choir member. She was very active in local civic organizations, such as being a life member the Macon Junior Auxiliary, of which in 2010, she was chosen as the queen of the organizations’ annual Charity Ball fundraising event. She was also very active in the Macon Historical Society, Main Street Macon, and was a past member of Women’s Study Circle. She was very involved with the Noxubee County Republican Women.
The funeral service for Mrs. Senter will take place on Monday, March 20, at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Macon with Dr. Bill Duncan and Bro. Steve Galloway officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the service arrangements.
Mrs. Senter was preceded in death by her husband, E.B. Senter and by two sisters: Josephine Anderson and Nancy Caldwell. She is survived by her two sons: Ed Senter and wife Jessica Germany of Birmingham, Alabama and Alan and wife Gloria Avery Senter of Columbus, MS. She also leaves behind her loving grand-daughter: Avery Senter of Columbus and one sister: Billie Liddell of Arlington, TX.
