Mrs. Della Fay Morton, 74, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Starkville Manor in Starkville, MS. Funeral service will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, NY, NY 10001. Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Della Fay Vess Morton was born on March 19, 1942 to the late Mary Williams and Henry Russell Vess in Tupelo, MS. She was a graduate of Mooreville High School. She was employed with food service during her working life. She retired from Mississippi State University Dining Hall after 29 years of service. She was married to Billy Morton for 37 years. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting, going to yard sales,sewing, shopping , collecting dolls and enjoyed spending time with her “grandbabies”. She always had a joyful spirit.

Mrs. Morton is survived by her husband, Billy Morton of Starkville, MS; siblings, Lucy Durham of Baldwyn, MS, Jan Miller of Camplake, WI, Glenda Turner of Tyler, TX, Linda Johnson of Baldwyn, MS, Joe Vess of Baldwyn, MS, Rachel Wilson of Tyler, TX, Gail Autrey of West Monroe, LA, and Katie Hall of Baldwyn, MS.
