Bro. Jerry F. Zgarba, 90, of Brooksville, MS passed away at his residence on Monday, October 17, 2016. His funeral service will be held from Brooksville Baptist Church in Brooksville, MS on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Jay Spiller officiating. Interment will follow in Brooksville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church Sunday. Memorials are requested to be made to the International Mission Board, 901 Commerce St, Nashville, TN 37203-3699. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS (www.cockrellfunerahome.com) is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Jerry f. Zgarba was born in Taylor, Texas on January 30, 1926 to the late Frank Joe and Frances Chalupa Zgarba. He was a graduate of the University of Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi Texas and served four years in the United States Air Force. He married the former Virginia Cornwell on January 22, 1949. Jerry Zgarba felt the call to Christian ministry on his life and he submitted to that call. He graduated from the New Orleans Seminary in 1967. In the mid-1970’s, he moved to Brooksville, Mississippi where he took over as the Pastor of Brooksville Baptist Church, an office that he held until his retirement. Bro. Jerry always loved the Lord and doing his work, so even after his retirement, he continued to serve in different pulpits until he fully retired at age 83. Bro. Jerry preached his last sermon on his 90th birthday from the pulpit of the Brooksville Baptist Church. All who knew him remember him as a mild mannered person who always wanted to share with others about Christ. He loved his family and his church.

Bro. Jerry is survived by his wife: Virginia C. Zgarba of Brooksville, and by two daughters: Cindy Brunson (Patrick) of Elkmont, Al and Jerry Susan Holt (Ted) of Starkville, MS. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Henry Zgarba; and by his only son: Frank I. Zgarba.
