Memorial services for Richard Nolan Franks, 69, of Macon, MS will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. from Cooksville Methodist Church near Macon, MS. Visitation will be held Sunday at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cooksville Methodist Church, 325 Paulette Rd, Macon, MS 39341 or Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703. He passed away at his residence on Friday, October 14, 2016. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon (www.cockrellfuneralhome.com) is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Nolan Franks was born on February 13, 1947 in Macon, MS to the late Ronald Keith, Sr. and Mary Ruth Greer Franks and lived all of his life in Noxubee County. He was a graduate of Noxubee County High School, Class of 1965 and later attended Hinds Junior College. He was involved in farming or farming-related occupations all of his life. Nolan retired in July of 2016 as elevator manager from the Tom Soya Grain Co. elevator in Bigbee Valley, MS. He was a longtime attendee of Cooksville Methodist Church. Nolan was an avid motorcyclist who loved cruising on his bike with his family and friends. He really enjoyed his trips out to the western United States. He was a good, honest man who cared about others and whose passion was helping others in need. He never met a stranger, but made friends with all whom he came in contact. He was a person who made it a point to visit his friends, family, and neighbors when they were ill or confined to the hospital or home.

Nolan is survived by his wife of 31 years: Shelly McDavid Franks of Macon; his three daughters: Callie Ross of Carrollton, AL; Haley Bianchini of Jackson, MS; and Shelley Lindsay of Madison, MS as well as by one son: Marion Hall Gray, Jr of Madison, MS. He is also survived by one sister: Rebecca Field of Shuqualak, MS and by one brother: Ronald Keith Franks of Macon, MS. He also leaves four grandchildren to mourn his passing.
