Thomas Melvin Coleman, 72, of Shuqualak, MS passed away suddenly at Noxubee General Hospital on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, at Soule Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak, MS at 1:00 P.M.
Bro. Gerald Butler and Bro. Mike Truitt will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at the Coleman section of Pinetucky Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Any memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis TN 38105-1905. Melvin Coleman was born on June 5, 1944 in Noxubee County, MS to the late Gray and Mary Thompson Coleman. He grew up in the country near Shuqualak and graduated from Shuqualak High School and East Mississippi Junior College. After graduation he moved to the Mississippi Delta where he worked for Cat Track Cattle Company for many years. He moved back to Shuqualak in the late 1970’s where he was engaged in farming until he lost a leg in a farming accident. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with all his family, but most especially with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters.
Melvin Coleman is survived by two daughters: Erin Coleman of Dekalb, MS and Mandy Clayton Burrell and by one son and daughter-in-law: James and Stephanie Coleman of Shuqualak, MS. He also leaves behind four grandchildren.
