John Wesley Jewell, 56, of Macon, MS passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Funeral service is planned for Sunday, July 17, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Salem Memorial Church near Macon, MS. Interment will follow in Mohegan Cemetery near Shuqualak, MS.
Visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. Cockrell Funeral is entrusted with arrangements.
John Wesley Jewell was born August 22, 1959 in Macon MS to the late Jesse Thomas Jewell and the late Earline Card Misso. He was a graduate of Nanih Waiya Class of 1977. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy where he served for 19 years in the Sea Bee (Construction Battalion) and was honorably discharged. After his military service he began working in construction but because of the lingering effects of injuries incurred while in the military, he went on disability. He was married to the former Elaine Dent. He was preceded in death by his mother: Earline Misso; his stepdads: Ronald King & Red Misso; and one brother: Tommy Jewell.
Those who survive him include his wife: Elaine Jewell of Macon; 2 sons: Reid Campbell of Iraq and Mitch Jewell of Louisville, MS; a daughter: Amber Jewell of Steens, MS 4 brothers: Tim Jewell of Macon, Doug King of Philadelphia, MS, Danny Misso of Louisville, MS and Leon Misso of Wahalak, MS; and 5 grandchildren.
