Mrs. Marjorie M. Williams, 93, of Macon, MS passed away July 7, 2016 at Trinity Healthcare Center in Columbus, MS. A graveside service is planned for Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Longview, MS. Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. box 746, Columbus, MS 39703. Cockrell Funeral Home (www.cockrellfuneralhome.com) is entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Williams was born on January 1, 1923 in Toledo, OH to the late Rudolph O. and Clara D. Blalock Mantley. She graduated from Whitmer High School and also the University of Toledo School of Pharmacy. She moved to Mississippi in the late 1960’s and began working for Bethany’s Drug Store (which later became B & O Pharmacy)in Macon, MS. After several years, Mrs. Williams purchased a pharmacy which became Williams Drug Store where she worked until her retirement. She was a member of the Macon Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Williams was involved in several clubs and organizations including: American Legion Auxiliary, Macon Pilot Club, Order of Eastern Star, and the Mississippi Homemakers Volunteers. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, and quilting as well as visiting with her children and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Jesse M. Williams; and a son: Donald Williams.
Surviving her are her sons: James Williams of Birmingham, AL; John Williams of Apex, N.C.; and Richard Williams of Nashville, TN. and her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
