Charles E. Metheny, Jr., 56, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his residence near Macon. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at Mashulaville Cemetery. Cockrell Funeral Home (www.cockrellfuneralhome.com) of Macon is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Charles was born on November 25, 1958 to Betty Pate Metheny and the late Charles Eugene Metheny on Rantoul Air Force Base in Illinois where his father was serving the U.S. military. Being in a military family, Charles moved around a lot while he was growing up. He received his GED and joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as a jet mechanic. After serving in the Air Force he went to work as an auto body mechanic. He married Diane Jones and together they had three sons. They moved to Macon, MS to live in his mother’s family’s home-place twenty five years ago. He is preceded in death by his father: Charles E Metheny and 1 son: Paul Metheny.

His survivors include his mother: Betty Metheny of DeFunials Springs, FL; spouse: Diane Metheny of Macon, MS; two sons: Casey Metheny of Chicago, Ill., and Charles Metheny of Macon, MS; three sisters: Rebecca Adams of Tuscaloosa, AL, Carol Hicks of Pickens County, AL, and Katie Walker of Tulsa, OK; and one brother: Michael Metheny of Green Bay, WI.
