Mr. William Boyd McCollum, 81, of Shuqualak, MS passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Macon, MS.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Shuqualak Methodist Church in Shuqualak, MS. Visitation will be held in the fellowship hall from 10 a.m. until service time. Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. www.cockrellfuneralhome.com

William Boyd McCollum was born January 20, 1935 to the late Robert Lee and Lucile Moore Miller McCollum in the Calyx Community of Noxubee County. He received an AA degree from East Mississippi Junior College. He entered the U S. Navy as a Seaman and retired as Senior Chief having served with the submarine force. His home base was New Groton, CT. After retirement, he worked with offshore drilling for ten years and then later with Shuqualak Oil Company for ten years. He was a member of Shuqualak Methodist Church. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife of 27 years; Doris Guy McCollum of Shuqualak, MS; 3 daughters, Regina McCollum and Ronne McCollum of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Rose Brescia of West Palm Beach, FL; one son, Robert McCollum of Altus, OK.; step son Mark Guy of Oxford, MS ; brother, Bobby McCollum of Columbus, MS; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
