Mr. Earl E. Thomas, 83, of Wahalak, MS passed away at Jeff Anderson Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS. Bro. Walt Tessier and Rev. James Granger will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery near Wahalak in Kemper County. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Thomas was born on February 24, 1932 in Wahalak, MS to the late James Cecil and Eva Persons Thomas. After he graduated high school, Mr. Thomas became a forester and was involved in forestry as a timber manager and forester until his retirement. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Wahalak Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas enjoyed sports and assisted his son for several years with coaching the girls’ softball teams at Central Academy, where they won several state championships. He developed long-lasting friendships with “his” girls and was known to all as “Daddy Earl”. Mr. Earl especially enjoyed spending time with all of his family. He was preceded in death by his wife: Doris Upchurch Thomas.
Mr. Earl E. Thomas is survived by his daughter: Robin Calderone (Carl) of Pike Road, AL and his two sons: Mike Thomas (Jane) of Lauderdale, MS and Terry Thomas (Becky) of Scooba, MS. He is also survived by one sister: Mrs. Helen Cade of Wahalak, MS, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
