Mrs. Dolly Guy Coke, 73, of Macon, MS. passed away at her residence on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Funeral services
Will be held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Salem Memorial Church near Macon, MS. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at this church. Mrs. Coke was born on March 13, 1942, in Macon, MS to the late Samuel Spence and Alice Nell Davis Guy. She graduated from Macon High School, attended and received a degree from Mississippi State. She obtained a job with the Dallas Times Herald in Dallas, Texas. She was interviewing Joan Crawford on the air when President Kennedy was shot. Later Dolly received a Master of School Work degree from Florida State. For most of her career she worked for mental health and social agencies. In 1971, Dolly married Byron Coke. His employment took them to several countries while Dolly taught in the International Schools. After returning to the U.S., Dolly was employed in several states with the majority of time spent in Alaska. Following retirement, Dolly and Byron moved back to Macon where she lived in her childhood home.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Byron, two-brothers-in-law, Dr. Pat Gill and Bob Crabtree, a niece, Leanne Cotton, and a nephew, Dennis Crabtree.
Dolly is survived by her friend, Frank Jarosz, her sisters, Faith Crabtree, Nancy Cotton and husband David, Mary Nell Gill, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
