William Gray Boykin, 78, of Macon, MS passed away at Noxubee General Hospital on Oct. 7, 2015. Mr. Boykin had been in declining health for the past few years. His funeral service will be held at Concord Baptist Church near Macon on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2:00 P.M. Burial with military honors will follow at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon (www.cockrellfuneralhome.com) is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
William Gray Boykin was born on May 24, 1937 top the late Charlie C. and Bessie Mae Boykin in Noxubee County, MS. He was married to the former June Thomas for over 45 years and had been in the plumbing and electrical service business for over 52 years.
Mr. Boykin was blessed with twelve children: Culetta Jean Killens, Ann Weigle , Steve Boykin (Sue), Pam (Bryant) Quinn, and Matthew Boykin (Theresa),all of Louisville, MS; Phyllis Dempsey (Tony) of Ackerman, MS; Carol Nelson (Henry) and William K. Boykin (Toni) of Macon; Janice (Eugene) Cooper of Brooksville, MS, Stanley Boykin of Louisville, MS, Billie Jo Boykin Smith of Brooksville, MS; and Susan Boykin of Shuqualak, MS. He also leaves behind thirty-two grandchildren and forty-seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Boykin is also survived by two sisters: Rebecca Jo Ladner of Gulf Shores, AL and Mary Lou Morton of Starkville, MS and by two brothers: Pete Boykin of Shuqualak, MS and Jesse Boykin of Escatawpa, MS. Mr. Boykin was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Wendy Lanelle Boykin; one son: Rocky Boykin; grandsons Michael Boykin and Chad White; and two brothers, Charlie and Earl Boykin.
