Mrs. Esther Clark Clemens, 97, of Macon, MS passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Trinity Health Care in Columbus, MS. A graveside service is planned for Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon, MS at 1 p.m. with Rev. Andy Pearson officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home
Saturday from 12 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O Box 162, Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Clemens was born on June 15, 1917 to the late Murray and Daisy Reynolds Clark in Decatur, AL. She was a graduate of Tuscumbia High School and later became a licensed cosmetologist. She married Jeptha Harris Clemens. They moved to Macon in 1957. She was employed with Macon Beauty Shop until she retired. In 1995, Mrs. Clemens moved to Trinity Retirement Community. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Clemens enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards and feeding birds. Mrs. Clemens was famous for her fried chicken, rice and gravy.
Mrs. Clemens is survived by her son Jeptha C Clemens of Oxford, MS and 2 grandchildren, Suzanne Clark Clemens and William Ward Clemens; and former daughter in law Janet Stebbins of Southaven, MS
