Bessie Taylor Edwards entered into rest on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Bessie was born April 9, 1936, in Macon, MS., to the late Robert Lee and Nannie Ray Harrison Taylor. She was the wife of the late Dr. John T. Edwards, a Dentist who practiced Dentistry in South Augusta for 25 years. She was a member of Soule Methodist Chapel located between Macon and Brooksville, MS., and was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Augusta, GA.
She attended Mississippi State College and Mississippi State College for Woman from 1954 thru 1957 where she received her Bachelors of Science Degree. She taught Biology and Science at Durrett High School in Louisville, KY., then went on to teach at Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY and taught Biology at Richmond Academy in Augusta, GA.
She is survived by her three daughters, Rhonda Lee Edwards of Tampa, Florida, Evelyn Esther Edwards of Augusta and Susan Edwards Wheeler of Seattle, Washington; three beautiful grandchildren, Arville Vance Wheeler, III of San Diego, California, Rachel Elle Wheeler and Victoria Taylor Wheeler both of Seattle, Washington; a son-in-law, Arville Vance Wheeler, Jr. of Seattle, WA. She also is preceded in death by her two sisters Les Sansing and Sarah Watson.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Soul Chapel Cemetery near Macon, MS. Russell Mord will officiate the services. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with arrangements. You may sign our guest book at www.cockrellfuneralhome.com.
