Mr. Robert “Bobby “Pearson, 70, passed away peacefully at his home near Starkville, MS on Monday, April 13, 2015. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 1:00 P.M. at Artesia Baptist Church in Artesia, MS with Bro. Jeff Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Mashulaville Cemetery near Macon, MS. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 12:00 noon until service time. The family requests that any memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016, the American Heart Association P.O. Box 840692 Dallas TX 75284-0692, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
Robert “Bobby” Pearson was born on July 24, 1944 in Columbus, MS to the late
H. J. and Edith Inez Barnett Pearson. He was a graduate of Lee High School in Columbus and also from East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba, MS. Soon afterward he married the former Doris Woodfin of Macon. Mr. Pearson joined the ranks of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol and soon completed the Patrol Academy. He served as a Patrolman for fifteen years until his retirement. He then became the manager of several area Hardees franchises, retiring in 1992. Mr. Pearson was a member of the Artesia Baptist Church. He enjoyed being out-of-doors and spent many hours hunting, fishing, and playing golf. His favorite time, however, was that spent with his family.
Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife: Doris Woodfin Pearson of Starkville, MS; three daughters: Sandi Pearson Tallent (Harold) of Starkville, MS; Mary Pearson Jackson (Chris) of Madison, MS;and Robyn Pearson Dunn (Shannon) of Winona, MS. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;one sister: Judy Jamerson (Allen) of Brooksville, MS; one brother: Bill Pearson (Jan) of Gainesville, MO. and his adored English Bulldogs, Bo and Maggie.
