Lee Sciple

August 20, 1998 — April 1, 2015

Lee Sciple, 16, of Shuqualak, MS passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at John C. Stennis Hospital in Dekalb, MS from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Starkville, Ms to Ronald R (Bodock) Sciple Jr. and Carol Lee Sciple on August 20, 1998 and lived his entire life in Shuqualak, MS. Lee had attended Central Academy in Macon from K4 until the eighth grade and was currently a 10th grade student at Kemper Academy in Dekalb. He was a friendly and outgoing person, loved by everyone, who never met a stranger. He always exhibited great sportsmanship on the field of play and always made it a point to shake hands with the opposing team after the game. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his true love was always sports. Lee got his start early, attending a football game at the age of one week. He served as manager of the Central Academy football team for several years. He was very athletic and enjoyed playing all sports, but he excelled in baseball. All of his coaches had remarked to his family how “coachable” Lee was. Once during a baseball camp at Mississippi State, Coach Ron Polk had stopped the camp to have all attendees and his players watch Lee doing his drills which Coach Polk called “a textbook example.” Lee had played “travel” Ball since age seven and had participated in the USSSA World Series in Panama City, Fla and in Orange Beach, AL. Since he was ten years old multiple coaches had shown interest in signing Lee to their teams. Lee was currently on the Kemper Academy baseball team and had played a game with his team the evening before his death. He was also a member of Team Mississippi, a college prospect team. On Wednesdays, Lee enjoyed attending Big Oak Methodist Church in Kemper County where they would play basketball after services.

Lee’s funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church 105 Dent Street Macon, MS at 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 4, 2015 with Bro. Sean Greer and Bro. Steve Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Shuqualak Cemetery. Visitation for Lee’s friends and family will be held at the Knox Dudley Gymnasium on the Kemper Academy campus (Hwy 16 west, Dekalb, MS) from 4:00 until 8:30 P.M. on Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the educational fund set up for Lee’s daughter, Brylee Kate.
