Glenn E. Hummer III, 68, of Macon, MS passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glenn Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon. Visitation will from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 3, at the funeral home. The family requests no flowers, please. Memorials are preferred and are requested to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
Glenn E. Hummer III, was born in Columbus, MS on November 28, 1946 to Ruby Graves Hummer and the late Glenn E. Hummer, Jr. He was a lifetime resident of the Prairie Point community in Noxubee County and was a member of the Center Point Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of both Noxubee County High School and East Mississippi Junior College and also attended Mississippi State University. Mr. Hummer joined the U.S. Air Force and was in the service during the Viet-Nam War, serving overseas in Crete and Japan for four years as an interpreter whose specialty was Morse code. After his military service, he returned to Prairie Point where he began farming, an occupation that he pursued for a number of years. He then became a Rural Mail Carrier, a career that he was engaged in until his retirement. In his spare time, Mr. Hummer enjoyed gardening, cooking, and watching sports. He was very fond of animals and wildlife and loved watching the animals near his rural home.

Glenn E. Hummer III is survived by his mother: Ruby G. Hummer of Macon, MS; his daughter: Paula Hummer of Brandon, MS; one sister: Jan Graham of Tuscaloosa, Al and one brother: Leigh Hummer of Huntsville, AL as well as by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Glenn E. Hummer, Jr.
