Roger C. “Bubba” Banks, 64, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon with Chaplain Mark Coker officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Eutaw, Alabama. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 P.M.at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon. Roger C. “Bubba” Banks was born on August 14, 1950 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Roy Chester and Mary Katherine Elizabeth Hill Banks. He began working in construction at a young age and later got his G.E.D. Certificate.. He worked in construction for over twenty years. He was a licensed Realtor and a Licensed Contractor. Mr. Banks owned his own construction company and was elected as the President of the Southeast Louisiana Home Builders Association. He married the former Pat Jones in January of 1971. He received his Paramedic Certification from the University of Mississippi and became a paramedic . After moving to Macon, MS he owned and operated P.B.’s there. For the past twenty years, he had been a self-employed taxidermist. Mr. Banks was a member of First Baptist Church in Macon.
Mr. Banks is survived by his wife: Pat J. Banks of Macon, MS; one daughter: Sherron Barron (Dwayne) of Millbrook, ALA; 3 sons: Sam Pasco (Kimberly) of Northport, Ala; Ty Banks (Brittany)of Hamilton, MS; and John Banks (Michele) of Crawford, MS. he is also survived by four sisters: Nancy Green Marlowe, Josephine Sweet, Charlotte Elledge, and Nora Swedenburg and by one brother: John Hocutt, Jr. as well as by eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Banks was preceded in death by his parents and by his step-father: John Hocutt, Sr.
