Robert (Bob) Donald Crabtree, 83, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Oktibbeha County Hospital.
Visitation to be held at Aldersgate Methodist Church in Starkville, MS from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday January 12, 2015 with service to follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Macon, MS with Cockrell Funeral Home (www.cockrellfuneralhome.com) in charge.
He was born on August 28, 1931 in Macon, MS. In high school, he played the tuba in the band and sang in the school choir. He spent four years in the air force and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1957 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Convair in Fort Worth, Texas doing instrumentation on the Air Force B-58. Later, he went to San Diego California for General Atomic involved in nuclear research. In 1986, he came to Starkville, Mississippi to assist his two sons in their roofing business. He was very active in Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He sang in the choir and was in charge of the audio equipment for the church service. He was active in the MSU Wesley Foundation, The Lion’s Club, VFW, Friends of the Library, and Faithful Coffee Friends, and sang with the Retired Men’s for the Masters. Bob will be remembered for his love for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis and survived by his wife, Faith; sons: Don (Diana) of Starkville, MS and Tim (Kimber) of Elk River, MN; his daughters: Lucille Conway (Tommy) of Fort Worth, TX, and Alicia Ryals (Mitchell) of Starkville, MS and his daughter-in-law: Kelly Crabtree of Southaven, MS. Bob was blessed with ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Bob leaves his three brothers, Theodore of Macon, MS, John of Tupelo, MS, and Frank of Macon, MS.
Memorials donations can be made in his honor to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 820 Evergreen St. Starkville, MS, 39759.
