Lorenda Lollar Card
Lorenda Lollar Card, 57, of Macon, Mississippi, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, 8 January 2015, at her home in Macon. Born on 17 March 1957, Lorenda was the third and youngest daughter of the late Bobby Lollar and Mildred Lollar (née Jaynes), both of Columbus, Mississippi.
Lorenda was an alumna of the Class of 1975 at Caldwell High School in Columbus, and later attended East Mississippi Junior College, where she was earned a business degree. Her working years were spent largely in public service at the United States Postal Service, where Lorenda served for nearly thirty years. She proudly worked her way up through the ranks of civil service – starting out as a Clerk in DeKalb, Mississippi and rising to become Postmaster of the Macon Post Office, where she served for nearly fifteen years until her death.
Known to many as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Lorenda is survived by her husband Thomas Harvey Card, of Macon; her son Carlton Judah Fleming, of Scooba; her stepson Bill Card (and his wife, Amy) of Columbus, Ohio; her grand-daughter Ty Haze Fleming, of Bessemer, Alabama; her grandsons Hunter Card, of Starkville, and Samuel Card, of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Deborah Lee Stubblefield (née Lollar) and James Mitchell Stubblefield, of Springhill, Louisiana; and her sister Bobbie Lynn Wages (née Lollar) of Ocala, Florida. Her loss is also shared by her many surviving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins – and the numberless friends who were so touched by Lorenda’s charm and warmth over the years to have been like family to her, as well.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M..to 2:00 PM on 10 January 2015 at Cooksville Methodist Church near Macon, where services celebrating Lorenda’s life will be held at 2 p.m. . Interment will follow immediately thereafter at Cooksville Cemetery in Cooksville . Lorenda’s pallbearers will be Hunter Card, of Starkville; Andrew Stubblefield, of Dallas, Texas; Dennis Lollar, of Vernon, Alabama; Mike Lollar, of Vernon, Alabama; Steve Ward, of Caledonia; and Charles Hailey of Macon, Grady Thompson of Crawford and George N.
