Ruby Wakefield Turner

Ruby Wakefield Turner passed away from this life on November 3, 2014 at Trinity Healthcare Center, Columbus, MS at the age of 102. Services will be held at Mashulaville Baptist Church, Macon, Miss. on Friday, November 7 th at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Steve Brown officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Mashulaville Cemetery. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Turner was born October 6, 1912 in Marion County, Alabama to the late Everette and Jane Holloway Wakefield. She graduated from Noxubee County Agricultural High School in 1936. She married Vernon Turner on January 1, 1938 and they lived in the Mashulaville community most of their married life. They raised large gardens with fruits and vegetables. They had many guests in their home and prepared wonderful meals for them. Mr. Turner preceded her in death on March 3, 1986. She was an active member of Mashulaville Baptist Church where she taught Junior Sunday School and was a member of WMU.

She had resided at Trinity Retirement Community in Columbus, MS since 1985. She had been a resident at Trinity Healthcare since 2004. After moving to Columbus she became a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active until the past few years when her health began to fail. She was retired from the Macon Garment Factory.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, one brother, Wilson Wakefield and three sisters, Ruth Baldwin, Johnnie Gammil, and Geneva Pearson.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Eaves of Enterprise, AL and Brenda (Don) Ming of Caledonia, MS; one sister, Lou Cothern of Dothan, AL., four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Michael Duckworth, Dr. Doyle Sumrall, friends at Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, MS and the caring staff of Trinity Healthcare Center.
