Mr. Troy Clyde Eaves, 90, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, October 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and many friends. Mr. Clyde, as he was known far and wide, was the son of the late Samuel Thomas and Annie Bell Holdiness Eaves and was a native son and lifetime resident of the Butler Community of Noxubee County near Macon, MS.
A time of visitation and memories for family and friends of Mr. Clyde will be held at Butler Pentecostal Church on Tuesday Oct. 14 from 6:00 until 8:30 P.M.and from 10:00 AM until service time Wednesday.His funeral service will be held from Butler Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Hodum, Bro. Allen Eaves , Bro. Gerald Butler, Bro. Jesse Cutrer, Bro. Charles Compton and Bro. Everett Loper officiating. Interment at Butler Cemetery with military honors will immediately follow the service. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Mr. Clyde was born into a large family and grew up in the Butler Community of Noxubee County. He was a graduate of East Mississippi Junior College (now EMCC) in Scooba and, during World War II, served as a light truck driver in the U.S. Army in both the Central Europe and South Pacific theatres of operation. Soon after the Japanese surrender ended the war, Mr. Clyde was discharged from his service and returned to the United States, to Noxubee County and his beloved hills of home. He was soon involved in logging and pulp-wood production as well as in farming. He married the former Annie Matt Clark and together they were the parents of seven children. Annie Matt Eaves passed away in May of 1989 and Mr. Clyde later married the former Francis Grissom, who also preceded him in death in April of 2010. Following the passing of his second wife, Mr. Clyde married the former Dixie Bull who survives him. Later in his life, he enjoyed meeting and talking with friends, both old and new, as he sold his fresh produce from the back of his pick-up truck at various locations around Noxubee County and surrounding counties. Mr. Clyde was a longtime member of Butler Pentecostal Church. He was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the harmonica, banjo and guitar and other instruments and singing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, and playing with his dogs. He was a great jokester with a dry wit and enjoyed hearing and telling jokes. Mr. Clyde’s greatest love, however, was always his family. Each family member was special to him and each member now fondly remembers the times spent with this special man. Mr. Eaves is preceded in death by two spouses, Annie Matt Eaves and Frances Eaves, siblings, William Eaves, Edward Eaves, Davis Eaves,Clement Eaves,Oswalt Eaves, Elsie Gregg, and Edna Rutledge; granddaughter, Emily Danielle Eaves and daughter in law Debbie Jo Eaves.
Left to mourn Mr. Clyde’s passing are his wife: Dixie B. Eaves of Macon, MS; and his seven children: Dorothy(Gay) Little & Clytee (Kenneth) Lowrey, both of Macon, MS ; Lil (Evans) Thomas of Preston, MS. Brenda (Todd) Fulcher of Louisville, MS; Dan Eaves of Preston; Phillip (Sherrie) Eaves and Allen (Sandy) Eaves of Macon; sister Mavis Myers of Pensacola, FL. and brother Ike Eaves of Philadelphia, MS. Also surviving him are step daughters, Beverly Pilgrim, Tina Lawrence, Dixie Faye Knight, Kimberly Compton; step-sons, Johnny Loper, Max Loper, Milton Loper and Everett Loper; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren,4 step grandchildren, 13 step great grandchildren.
