Mrs. Mary Adams Land, 86, of Macon, MS passed away at Noxubee County Nursing Home in Macon on Sunday, August 24, 2014. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26 at 2:15 p.m. at graveside in Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon with Dr. Andy Pearson officiating. A period of visitation will take place at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. The family requests no flowers, but thatmemorials to please be made to First United Methodist Church P.O. Mary Adams Land was born in Gulfport, MS on October 31, 1927 to the late Fred Rodgers and Maudine Ford Adams. She grew up in the Salem community near Macon and attended Salem School, later graduating from Macon High School. She received her Business Certificate from Bowling Green Business College and returned to Macon to work at the Bank of Macon, where she met her future husband, Hal G. Land, Jr. She and Mr. Land were married on May 7, 1950 at First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Land then worked at Production Credit Association for a number of years before retiring to become a full-time mother and homemaker. Mrs. Land was very active in First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Mrs. Ann Tindal’s Sunday School Class. She was also a life member of the Macon Junior Auxillary and the Thursday Club study circle.

Mrs. Land was an outgoing person who enjoyed meeting people and who dearly loved her family and spending time with them. She had a distinct soft spot in her heart for animals, especially birds and dogs.

Mary Adams Land leaves to mourn her passing one daughter: Jane Land Anderson of Gulfport, MS and one son: Grey (Teresa) Land of Macon, MS. as well as two grandchildren: Tyler Sims Anderson and Jennifer Anderson Walker, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother: Fred Adams, Jr. of Jackson, MS She was preceded in death by her parents,,her husband, her son-in-law Tim Anderson, a sister, Betty Cunningham and a brother Jack Adams.
