Syble White Coker

Mrs. Syble W. Coker, 89, of Macon, MS passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Noxubee County Nursing Home in Macon after a brief illness. Her funeral service will be held at Shuqualak Baptist Church on Thursday, August 21 at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Gerald Butler and Bro. Bill Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Shuqualak Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon on Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. and at Shuqualak Baptist Church from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Memorials may be made to Noxubee County Nursing Home P.O. Box 480 Macon, MS 39341 or to Shuqualak Baptist Church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon (www.cockrellfuneralhome.com) is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Coker was born in the Preston Community of Kemper County, MS on April 5, 1925 to the late Albert W. and Emma Frances Sadler White. She was educated in the Kemper County School System. After she married, she moved first to Shuqualak and later to Macon in Noxubee County, MS where she remained for the remainder of her life. She was a housewife and homemaker and also worked as a sales clerk at local department stores for many years. She attended Shuqualak Baptist Church. Mrs. Coker enjoyed yard work, reading (especially her Bible), and word-find books. Each week she especially looked forward to reading the Cockrell Funeral Home article in the Macon Beacon newspaper. She also loved spending time visiting with her friends and her family. Mrs. Coker was preceded in death by her husband: Floyd; one daughter: Brenda Jane Coker; and one son: Larry Coker.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Shirley (Bob) Boykin and Mrs. Carolyn (Larry) Higginbotham, both of Macon, Ms and Mrs. Glenda J. (Eddie) Coleman of Shuqualak and one son: Neal (Donna) Coker of West Point, MS and by one daughter-in-law: Debbie Coker of Madison, MS. Also left to mourn her passing are eight grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
