Gloria Adams Crabtree

December 1, 1933 — May 23, 2014

Gloria Crabtree, age 80, passed away Friday May 23, 2014 at Sanctuary Hospice in
Tupelo, Mississippi, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, Mississippi
Sunday May 25, at 3:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service and burial following at Salem Cemetery. Memorials made be made to Sanctuary Hospice, 5159 W. Main St., Tupelo, MS 38801, Traceway Manor, 2800 W. Main St., Tupelo, MS 38801 or a charity of your choice.

Gloria was born December 1, 1933, to Miles and Zola Dugan Adams in Macon,
Mississippi. She graduated from Macon High School, attended East Central Jr. College,
and received a certificate in business from Hurst Business School. She worked for the
North Mississippi Methodist Conference in Grenada, Mississippi, and was later
employed with Commercial Credit Corp. as an accounting clerk and receptionist in
Columbus, Mississippi. After her marriage to John, she moved to Tupelo, Mississippi,
where she worked for the same company for seventeen years.

Gloria was a longtime member of Tupelo First United Methodist Church, the
Wesleyan Service Guild, the Mary Richey Circle, and the Methodist Sunday School Class, in addition to helping in the nursery. She was also a member of the Tupelo
Symphony League, the Pilot Club, and the Noxubee County Historical Society.

Survivors include her husband John Crabtree, whom she married on October 24,
1956, son John Michael Crabtree of Tupelo, sisters Helen Aycock of Columbus, Mississippi and Nancy James and her husband J.W. of Starkville, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her niece Sheila James Newell, the daughter of Nancy and J.W.
