Mrs. Helen R. Featherston, 90, passed away on May 5, 2014 at Traceway Retirement Center in Tupelo, MS. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 8, at 3:00 P.M. from First United Methodist Church in Macon with interment following in the family lot at Oddfellows Cemetery. Dr. Andy Pearson will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held at the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service. The family requests no flowers, please. Box 162, Macon, Ms 39341 The Methodist Children’s Home, 805 N Flag Chapel Rd, Jackson, MS 39209 or to the Traceway Retirement Center 2800 Main Street, Tupelo, MS. Helen Robinson Featherston was born on August 12, 1923 in Clover, South Carolina to the late James T. and Mary Lena Boyd Robinson. She attended Winthrop College and later worked in Washington D.C. On December 31, 1943 she married Sam Featherston of Macon, MS., to which they moved in 1945. Mrs. Featherston worked for many years as a legal secretary for the Stennis and Kennedy Law Firm. She was active in her church and enjoyed traveling. She was a Life Member of the Macon Junior Auxiliary and also was a member of the Frith Lake Club. . She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister: Winfred Currence; and two brothers: Presley and Richard Robinson.
Helen R. Featherston is survived by her two daughters: Charlotte F. LeHecka of Greensboro, N.C. and Jennie F. Walker of Jacksonville, Fla. and by her two sons: Sam Featherston, Jr. of Lincoln, NE. and Jimmy Featherston of Saltillo, MS. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
