Mrs. Frances O. Banks

Mrs. Frances Outz Banks, 90, passed away at Hurst Plaza in Hurst, Texas on Thursday, March 13, 2014. The oldest of five children, she was born on November 1, 1923 in Mathiston, Ms. to the late John C. and Sarah Mayson Triplett Outz and had lived in Noxubee County most of her life. She married Buford Silas Banks on June 14, 1941. She was a lifelong housewife and homemaker and also, along with her husband, worked on the family farm. She enjoyed gardening and always had a huge garden from which she canned and froze much produce. She always had an abundance which she willingly shared with her family and friends. Mrs. Frances was also a very good seamstress and made most of her own clothes. She was also a talented quilter who, in 1979, made quilts for each of her children. She later quilted one for each of her twelve grandchildren. In her later years she enjoyed sitting with and caring for the elderly. In addition to her parents and her husband , she is also preceded in death by one son, Travis Banks. She is survived by her daughter: Edith Arlene Banks Potts of Hurst, Tx; and three sons: Melvin Randle Banks of Collins, MS; Gordon Norris Banks of Brooksville, MS; and Kenneth Buford Banks of Spring Hill, TN.
Mrs. Banks’ funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel. Chad Banks will officiate at the service. Interment at Soule Chapel Cemetery near Macon will follow the funeral service. A time of visitation will be held Sunday from 12:00 noon until service time. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the services.
